HOT Shred marks Jay’s return to the Disk and Document Destruction business born from a sincere desire and needs to serve his loyal customers. He has had many requests in recent years to provide his services again, but business agreements prevented him from doing so prior to now.

All employees of HOT Shred, prior to employment, are subject to screening and background checks. All employees have signed both HOT Shred and various customer confidentiality agreements and are aware that the material that they are handling is confidential in nature.
Meet Our Leadership Team
Jay Lankford
CEO
Jay is originally from Roswell, New Mexico, where he attended and graduated from New Mexico Military Institute (NMMI). After high school, he earned a track scholarship to Baylor University, graduating in 1980 with a degree in Management Information Systems and Management. That same year, Jay married the love of his life, Laura, and together they embarked on a journey of academic and professional achievement.
The couple pursued advanced degrees at Texas A&M University, where Jay earned a Master’s in Beef Cattle Production and Agricultural Economics. Jay’s commitment to excellence extended further as he became a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), earning his CPA license in the state of Texas.
An entrepreneur through and through, Jay founded the document destruction business in 2005 and has continued to lead it with passion and dedication ever since. His vision and expertise have been instrumental in building a business that prioritizes security, reliability, and exceptional service.
Today, Jay’s leadership remains the cornerstone of Heart of Texas Shred, reflecting his unwavering commitment to success and innovation.
Justin Klaus
Logistics & Operations Manager
Justin has been an integral part of Heart of Texas (HOT) Shred since its inception in early 2017. As our Logistics and Operations Manager, he ensures our drivers and route schedules run seamlessly and oversees the daily operations of our shredding facility. Justin’s dedication and expertise keep our operations efficient and customer-focused.
A proud family man, Justin cherishes time with his loving wife, Ginny, and their two children, Carson and Kori. When he’s not at work, you can often find Justin on the baseball field, coaching Carson’s team or helping him kick off his football and baseball journey.
Justin is a graduate of West High School (Class of 2013) and earned a degree in Biomedical Technologies from TSTC in 2018. A passionate sports fan, he enjoys sharing his love of athletics with his family and community.
